Editorial Policy
Our standards for accuracy, transparency, and independence
Research & Verification
Every article is built on primary source research: product terms, lender disclosures, government databases, and where applicable, direct quotes from service providers. We do not publish claims we cannot verify. Writers and editors cross-check facts before publication. Where data may change — rates, fees, eligibility criteria — we note the date of last review and update content when material changes occur.
Editorial Review
Content is reviewed for clarity, factual accuracy, and consistency before publication. We prioritise plain language: if a reader has to read a sentence twice, we rewrite it. Jargon is defined on first use. No article is published without a second pass from an editor. Opinion is clearly labelled and separated from factual comparison content.
Affiliate Transparency
FinanceJournal participates in affiliate programmes. Some links may earn us a commission if you click through and complete a purchase or application. This never changes our editorial assessment of a product. We do not accept payment for positive reviews. We do not alter ratings or rankings in exchange for advertising spend. If an affiliate relationship would create an appearance of bias, we disclose it explicitly in the article.
Updates & Corrections
Financial product terms change frequently. We review high-traffic guides quarterly and update them when we identify material inaccuracies. If you spot an error, contact us — we investigate and correct within 5 business days. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the relevant article with a datestamp.
